Of all the products that I have developed, Ashoka University's CMS and website was a specially challenging assignment - primarily from a stakeholder management perspective. There are more than a 130 faculty members, 20 student bodies, 10 departments and a board of about 100 co-founders. And almost everyone has very strong opinion about the design and functionality of the site.
The only option was to have extended conversations and sessions with the stakeholders - which spanned over a 4-month period. During this time, most of the web elements and design elements were finalised and then mockups were created.
Since the requirements of the University were very specific, an out-of-the-box CMS solution wasn't on the cards. We developed the entire customised CMS from scratch on PHP with a focus on:

Easy to edit and content upload by any University member without and dependency on the IT team - as long as the person is there on the active directory.

Complete control over designing the pages through a wysiwyg editor within a given framework.

A one-click process to generate a new page or choosing from a pre-designed template.
